Day Ten!
(((listen))) Monday Evening:
(((listen))) Tuesday Morning:
TUESDAY: Today and tomorrow we plan to rest and not travel any further. We are still in Zanzibar visiting different places. The people are very friendly and hospitable. Our host is Hafez Salmaan Gardee & Ml Muhsin Gardee.
As we visit the historical Islamic sites, we also notice the Islamic way of life of the Zanzibar People. Just like South Africa, they too emphasize on the Maktab (afternoon Madressah). After morning school, their children also go to Afternoon Madressah. Children as young as four years old. The Ustaads here too are concerned about afternoon attendance. ![]()
The poverty of the people is also eye-opening. However, they are very content with what they have.
We also visited the historical Slave-Market in Zanzibar,
which was used by the earlier British and Arab Slave-Traders. There was no ventilation for the slaves. Just a small hole. The slaves were kept in these places for two to three days, to test their endurance. If they came out alive, they were considered fit to be sold. ![]()
At about 16:00 we will be taking the ferry back from Zanzibar to Dar Es Salaam. Tonight we plan to sleep over in Dar Es Salaam. Tomorrow morning, early we will be leaving for Kenya by bus. Kenya is about 15 hours from Dar Es Salaam.

What an amazing way to travel for Haj.
I would love to go on this trip some day, insha-allah.
Maybe next year, the Ullama can plan a repeat trip and call me up. For now I will eagerly follow our brothers posts to share in their experience.
