Day Eleven!
(((listen))) Tuesday Evening:
(((listen))) Wednesday Morning:
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY: Alhamdulillah, we visited many Masaajid
on the island of Zanzibar. We also visited the shopping markets,
to get the feel of what life is about. The women are well-clad and practicing Muslims. We saw the different spices that they have on the island. Most of the spices are grown on the Island. Tumeric; Curry leaves; Ilachi etc. We saw how it is grown and packed.![]()
The weather in Zanzibar was 55 c; unbearable heat indeed. At 15:30, after lunch we got onto the ferry back to Dar Es Salaam.
When we reached Dar Es Salaam, we looked for some accommodation to sleep the night over. As we searched for accommodation we found some places were run down for about $10 per person. But, we settled for some better accommodation at $20 per person. ![]()
We tasted some of the delicacies of Tanzania. A kind of ‘plough’ that is cooked with rice.
WEDNESDAY MORNING: Today, we got up early and prepared our things to move on our journey. We were very excited that we did not even have breakfast. Our plan was to go from Dar Es Salaam by bus towards Nairobi. They say that the journey would be about 15 hours.![]()
We left at 06:30am. The buses are relatively comfortable. The roads are satisfactory, with many potholes. 80km per hour is the speed with which they travel.
What makes the journey even better is that the bus is not full. We have much space to stretch our legs etc. Nibbling on some baltong and ‘Putkos’.
As we drive through Tanzania, we once again experienced the majestic scenery of Tanzania. It is a beautiful morning with 38 c. ![]()
We hope to be in Nairobi at 21:00 tonight, Insha Allah!

It brings joy to the heart to see our young Muslims striving in this way. I make dua that they reach their blessed destination safely. May their noble example inspire others to do the same. Their courage should be applauded by most of us who have become spoilt in luxuary. These young people should make us realize that Islam is a religion of sacrfice and effort.

Assalamu ‘Alikum Wa Rahmatullah
Dear Adventurers in the path of Allah
Hajj is called a “Journey of a lifetime,” but for you brave fellows, it will always be an “Adventure of a lifetime.” Africa is indeed rich in Islamic history. Try to visit as many places as possible - en route, especially in North Africa, even if it means taking a slight detour. I doubt you will get this opportunity again in a hurry - so make the best of it.
Allah tells us to “traverse the earth and witness the ending of those who sinned.” Take this journey with the intention of fulfilling this Qur’anic directive and notice different nations and cultures in various states of ascendancy or decline, advancement or regression, prosperity or poverty… and take a lesson from them all.
May Allah preserve your health and keep you safe from all problems enroute. Please make special du’a for my family and myeslf at Arafaat too and may Allah bring your back safely - ameen.
And by the way, everytime you speak about your biltong and padkos - I think you guys must have taken a mountain of it!
Was Salaam
