MONDAY MORNING: We are still trying to get bookings from Port Sudan to Jeddah by ship. However, there are many people travelling that way. For this reason and due to ship-maintenance our bookings have been delayed to Friday. We are hopeful that when we reach Port Sudan, we will get some reservations on one of the ships.
We have left Khartoum early this morning on a luxury bus for Port Sudan, which is about 1200km away from Khartoum. At the moment we are travelling and Alhamdulillah, we have been just served breakfast.
Our stay in Khartoum over the weekend was a memorable one. We visited some of the Masaajid and we also met with the Imaams of the Masaajid. There were many Halaqahs (circles) of Thikr and Taleem going on; Quran lessons; Fiqh lessons, which we also took part in.
As we are travelling today from Khartoum towards Port Sudan, we are experiencing the outside atmosphere. It is mostly dessert terrain with odd patches of greenery. Lots of Masaajid; everywhere… you only see Minaarats, with most beautiful architecture, unbelievable.

WEll what can I say except that you have learnt a great lesson of what NABI SAW always potrayed give the best out of your homes to the needy so that ALLAH will give you even better on the day of qiyaamah. And you need to take this message home to mainly the SA muslims.
It is indeed an eye opener when one leaves the luxury travels and does what you have done and it opens ones eyes and broadens our horisons on what the deen is all about. We are a small community in the Channel Islands and as a muslim SA always took the deen for granted but alas we have learnt it is not the 5 pillars that will bring you to heaven but how you interract with human beings and how you treat the needy and the orphans and how strong is your haert to give the best of what you have to the needy.Your example of the man in the musjid who took of his kurta to give away not only brought tears to our eyes but an eye opener of how we take our luxuries for granted and hold on to it.
May ALLAH except this humble effort of yours and may he open the doors of rahmat, and jannah for all of you who have endouvered to do this.
Ameen
MASHALLAH! WED JUST LIKE TO COMMEND THE BROTHERS ON TAKING ON THIS SACRED PILGRIMAGE ON THE PATH LESS TRAVELLED.ITS QUITE AN INSPIRATION FOR ALL OF US.MAY ALLAH KEEP U ALL SAFE AND REWARD YOU FOR EVERY STEP OF THE WAY AND YOUR WIVES & FAMILIES THAT YOU LEFT BEHIND TOO .WASSALAAM.
Your backpackers trip has been followed with interest but sadly reading and listening to your the daily comments has been dissappointing. I had hoped to hear more interesting reporting on your trip but was subjected to listening to commentary and questions on food, food, padkos, biltong. It would have been easier to travel to White River to enjoy great Gardee cuisine and hospitality! There was little about the people and the country you were travelling through. I have not heard any comments on the Sudan and the teacher for example. And on the spot eyewitness report would have been interesting.
I know you all are on a spiritual journey but yours was a flying visit through Africa - you all might as well have flown directly over it.
Salaams , May the Almighty keep us all on the right path and forgive us for our sins.
That was abit of an unfair comment, I think, Brother Nomaan. I guess we all hear what we want to. There have been interesting reports from the Brothers. They are all ‘Ulama and not journalists who are qualified in reporting on travels and sights.
May Allah accept their efforts and give us all love for Islam and Muslims.
I am sure that by next year you will have many requests to join in this wonderful adventure. I have been following your route daily & can only imagine what a delight it is to see muslims come to your aid even though you are strangers to them. May Allah strengthen our imaan & I pray that muslims throughout the world can always be there for one another.
May Allah accept your Haj & grant you all that is good in this world & even better in the hereafter.
